The purpose of the turban has served many cultures throughout history for different reasons and has been part of many spiritual practices. It has been worn by people as a spiritual technology, a spiritual identity as well as other practical reasons, here are some of them:
1.The spiritual science and technology of wearing a turban:
2.The spiritual identiy of wearing a turban: Different faiths wear turbans of different kinds as part of their spiritual identity, for more info about this, click here. Most of the people you see here wearing turbans are Sikhs (some wear it for just the spiritual technology). Sikh means a student of Higher consciousness. Sikh's consider the turban a gift, a crown for the spirit, to help us sit on the throne of commitment to our own higher consciousness. For men and women alike, the projective identity of the turban conveys royalty, grace, and uniqueness. It is a signal to others that we live in the image of Infinity and are dedicated to serving all. When Sikhs were being persectuted in history, it was easy to take off the turban and hide so one would not be persecuted for being Sikh. In those times, and today, the choice to stand out by wearing a turban, represents one's commitment to stand fearlessly as oneself, to be a beacon of light. 3.Other practical reasons: Some people simply wear a turban or head covering as a convenient way to keep their long hair. Also, many desert people wear turbans to prtect them from the intense sun and wind. *for more information about turbans and videos on how to tie turbans visit Sikhnet . |
